Shutter Speed

What shutter speed should be used to capture the motion of a sea seems to be the Marmite of topics. There is as much like for that smooth silky effect as there is dislike.

There is no right or wrong here but instead simply down to your visual preference.

The image with the water draining smoothly from the shinny and rounded rocks was captured at 2 seconds while held steady on a tripod.

The image frozen in crispness at the moment of a waves impact against the rocks was captured at 1000th of a second. A tripod is not necessary when using such high speeds.

Join me to master this and much more.
