I wonder if bringing photography back to its purest form, will become a new novelty. Just as I would have chosen the correct film for the conditions and the effect wanted.
I set my Fuji XT3 to B&W at the preferred contrast for this gorgeous location in Southern Norway. I covered the LED screen throughout, and spot metered the scene using the camera’s meter plus a hand-held light meter.
Knowing the tree to the right would record in a similar tone to the dark blue sky in black and white, this would have weakened it significantly.
However, my weather app inc a radar (which wasn’t available in the days of film) told me a cluster of cloud’s were slowly heading my way.
Patience paid off as a perfect cloud slid behind the tree as though by design. This established the tree’s dominance as a key element of the composition.
