I often get asked what camera gear I use. The XT3 was released in September 2018 and discontinued in February 2022. I purchased two bodies and four lenses of varying focal lengths around mid-2019.
My system is effectively almost seven years old and long since discontinued. Does this matter to me? Not in the slightest, to be honest.
It performed superbly and satisfied both me and my customers when purchased, and still does to this day.
The adage… “If it’s not broken, don’t fix it.”
What attracted me to it initially was the retro looks and option for ‘old school’ functionality of clunks and clicks.
The user experience is ultra-important to me; how it looks and feels matters. It nurtured a romantic nuance from my early days with mechanical cameras and still does.
The easy selection of ISO, aperture, and shutter covers 95% of my needs. This frees me from menus and technical distraction to focus on the aesthetic and humanistic elements that stimulate appeal. Or by absence, sometimes causes a lack of it.
The grip is from Small Rig and enhances handling as well as providing an additional hot shoe.
