These images was undertaken early evening in late autumn on a chilly, very windy and misty/drizzly day.
The conditions had worsened while traveling to the location on the North coast of Cornwall. But neither myself, my assistant Mike, Alina our model, or her boyfriend Oli wanted to abandon the shoot.
A warm and waterproof dryrobe was excellent at keeping Alina toasty while we setup the Elinchrom portable ‘Three’ in the increasingly challenging weather.
A few test shots while still wearing the dryrobe proved successful so Alina dropped off the dryrobe for the two ish minutes of shooting.
The onshore wind from behind Alina volumed Alina’s hair which we saw as something of a bonus.
We repeated the process further out on the sand with a falling tide and waited for a surfer to pass behind, for added dimension and ambiance.
As wild as it became, we all really enjoyed being there and we got images we genuinely like as opposed to ‘nothing’ if we’d given up.
I love the quote…“if you can’t get out of it, get into it”.
